A quick note to announce that Robert Shane Wilson of Nightscape Press has proclaimed a half-off sale for all titles, ebook or print, from now through Halloween.  Of particular interest (at least to me), this includes BLOOD TYPE:  AN ANTHOLOGY OF VAMPIRE SF ON THE CUTTING EDGE (see September 17, August 13, et al.) in which my story is that of “Eudora,” characterized by one reviewer as “the kind of girl your mother warned you about.”  Remember back.  You know who she was . . . and maybe you’ve wondered what might have happened should you have met her and dated her anyway?

Now you can find out for only $8.49 ($2.49 for the ebook), along with noting some other great pre-Halloween offers, by pressing here.

It’s been a long time coming, but Nightscape Press announced Tuesday that the final proofs for the print edition of BLOOD TYPE (cf. December 9 2013, et al.) are at hand.  But let Editor Robert S. Wilson explain:

”Weighing in at over 130,000 words and 455 pages, this is a big one!

”BLOOD TYPE:  AN ANTHOLOGY OF VAMPIRE SF ON THE CUTTING EDGE is predominately a collection of stories that represent the most cutting edge science fiction-based vampire fiction.  Think SF-based vampire fiction like I Am Legend and BloodTypeCovNecroscope and how they affected the vampire genre when they were first released. Dark Vampire SF that goes where the genre hasn’t before.

”It is not just an anthology of hard science fiction, however.  This book also contains examples of science fantasy as well as some classic vampire stories including an updated reprint from William F. Nolan.  Also includes brand new stories from Peter Watts (from the Blindsight/Echopraxia universe), Laird Barron, Tim Waggoner, Bram Stoker Award-winning author Benjamin Kane Ethridge, John Palisano, Jason V Brock, Peter Giglio, Jonathan Templar, Taylor Grant, and many more!”

My story in this is a relatively short one called “Eudora” about, as one reviewer has put it, “the kind of girl your mother warned you about.”  Also, BLOOD TYPE is a charity anthology with proceeds to go to the Cystic Fibrosis Trust, more about which can be found by pressing here.  As for those who can’t wait even until next week, the Kindle edition has been available for some time, for which press here, while other e-versions can also be found in the Nightscape Press store along with pre-ordering information for the print version by pressing here.

The paperback version of BLOOD TYPE:  AN ANTHOLOGY OF VAMPIRE SF ON THE CUTTING EDGE (see October 30, et al.) will not, alas, be out in time for Christmas, but has been scheduled by Nightscape Press for an official January 2014 release, according to Editor Robert S. Wilson.  To quote their advrtising blurb, BLOOD TYPE “is predominately a collection of stories that represent the most cutting edge science fiction-based vampire fiction.  Think SF-based vampire fiction like I AM LEGEND and NECROSCOPE and how they affected the vampire genre when they were first released.  Dark Vampire SF that goes where the genre hasn’t before.”  And I might add, I’m proud to be in it myself, albeit with one of the shorter stories, “Eudora,” the tale of a woman who had this thing about worms. . . .

The Kindle edition has been available since the end of October, however, so those who can’t wait can still get it by clicking here.  In fact, for this week, Editor Wilson has announced all Nightscape titles are on a 25-percent-off sale, making this one a special bargain for yourself or as a gift for a special friend (though, for me, I’m going to look forward to getting my paperback copy anyway).

And one more thing, finally, all proceeds from BLOOD TYPE, paper or Kindle, will be donated to The Cystic Fibrosis Trust.

Just in time for the real vampires to be out?  Today was Contract Day in a manner of speaking, sending back a contract for PROSPECTIVE JOURNAL that came yesterday (see August 22 — this is the one for “A Slice of Cheese” for their “Sasquatch” issue) and, just as I was about to log off for the afternoon, another that just arrived from Nightscape Press.   The Nightscape contract, by coincidence, is for the “other” charity anthology, BLOOD TYPE (cf. July 23 — which also offers an alphabetical table of contents, this one in order of title — and 18), with proceeds to go to The Cystic Fibrosis Trust.  Fully titled BLOOD TYPE:  AN ANTHOLOGY OF VAMPIRE SF ON THE CUTTING EDGE, contents-page illuminati include Tim Waggoner, William F. Nolan, Michael R. Collings, Mike Resnick, and a number of others.  So between it and BLEED, as noted in the post just below, buyers will have a double opportunity both to read well and do good at the same time.

My offering in BLOOD TYPE is the modest “Eudora,” a girl whose father bought her a wormery when she was young, coming in at a relatively lightweight 1500 words. “Always on the go, that was Eudora.  Seductive.  Beautiful.  Treating Goth clubs as if they were smorgasbords.  Meeting new men there as well.”  Also today’s email made it official, that the release date for BLOOD TYPE is to be Devil’s Night, October 30, the eve of Halloween.

See everyone there?
